My legs buckled, and I slammed to the floor the moment my father left the hall with Alpha Kingsley.
Eventually, the hall emptied, leaving me alone.
I saw Theo walking out with Kaia. My heart jumped with pangs.
My father’s command still echoes in my head.

For the first time in years, a tear dropped from my eyes.

My mother gasped and rushed forward to hold me. Holding me close to her chest.

But I couldn’t hear anything she was saying.
My body was shaking. Violently.
I could barely hold a breath. The humiliation ate deeply into my heart.

My mother stroked my hair, whispering soothing things to me.
But nothing can soothe what I’m feeling.
I let out a sound, half sob, half snarl.
“Mother…” My fingers dug into my mother’s arm hard enough to bruise. “Mother, I swear p>
I couldn’t finish my words before tears choked my voice, stopping me.
“I will ruin them for this,” I said, my voice dripping with venom.
Mother stiffened, but she didn’t say anything. She just hugged me tighter.
“I will take everything from Theo,” I swore, my eyes blazing. “His pack. His ailing heart. And that damned little mutt he calls a mate…” My lip curls, trembling with rage. “She won’t last long p>
“Elara…” Mother whispers, frightened now.

My eyes glisten with tears, but I refuse to let them fall.

“I will burn everything they love,” I whispered, shaking. “They think they’ve humiliated me? They think this is over p>
I clutched my mother’s dress bitterly.
“It’s not over. I don’t care what the Circle said or what Father’s decision was. I will get Theo back p>
“And that girl, Kaia…” My voice dropped, filled with venom. “Will regret ever breathing the same air as me p>
“My darling, just calm down,” mother said, hugging me and patting my back. “Dont do anything reckless, you might regret”
“Go, Mother,” I muttered. She stopped hugging me and looked at my face.

“I say go, I want to be alone!” I half-yelled. “Go to your husband. Thank him for ruining my life”
I pushed her away. Mother stood up and left.
I sat in the hall for a little while longer until a guard came up to me.
“Alpha Princess, you’ll have to come with us,” the guard said. “We have an order from the Alpha to escort you out of the hall. Please understand”
They escorted me out like I was some criminal.
I am the rightful Luna of the Shadowclaw pack.
The woman promised Theo before we both shifted.
The door slammed behind me, and something in me snapped so violently I could hear it.
I could hear it shattering like glass inside my ribs.
I dashed to my room, hoping to avoid everyone’s gazes.
I can’t let them enjoy seeing me humiliated.
When I was about to lock my door, Cara rushed over, stopping me in my tracks.
“I want to be alone. Cara, go away p>
“Elara, breathe-” Cara urged me.
“DON’T TELL ME TO BREATHE!” I screamed, pushing past her so hard she staggered.

I could barely see where I was going. Everything was red from my rage.
I felt heat under my skin, boiling, bubbling, and clawing up my throat.
Kaia, that pathetic, weak nobody.
A mistake Theo should never have even looked at.
She stole everything from me.
She took Theo and my position as Luna from me.
I punched the wall hard, trying to vent my annoyance.
Again. Until my knuckles split and blood spilt on the wall
Cara gasped, reaching for me, but I twisted away.

Cara finally caught me, wrapping her arms around me even as I writhed against her.
“It’s unfair,” she whispered. “You dont deserve this”
“It’s more than unfair,” I spat.
“They think they can pass me off to Lucien,” I hissed. “They think I’ll just smile and accept being second-hand -“My laugh was bittersweet. “They’re insane p>

I stopped shaking. Completely.

“I’ll make that pathetic girl regret ever stepping into this pack p>
“And I’ll make every single person who applauded that decision pay p>
Cara swallowed. “Elara… please. Don’t do anything rash p>
“Rash?” I smiled scornfully. “No, Cara. I won’t make a rash decision p>
“Trust me, Elara, I want nothing more than justice for you”, Cara began, “But we can’t get revenge if you do something rash. Please calm down”
“Cara, I’m not stupid,” I said, turning to her. “Of course, I’m not going to ruin it once again”
“So, what’s your plan now?” Cara asked.
“I don’t have anything planned yet”, I say. “But believe me, I won’t let Theo and Kaia get away with this”
“And Lucien?” Cara asked. “What are you going to do with him p>
Of course, she would ask. Lucien is her son after all.
“This is between him and me for now. I will handle it my own way,” I replied.
“Alright. Do what you must. I will see you later,” Cara said, before leaving.
Once Cara was gone, I turned to the mirror.
Looking at my pathetic reflection, I was livid once more.
“This isn’t over yet, Theo,” I muttered. “I hope your weak, pathetic heart can handle what I’m going to do to you”
I turned, a smirk plastered on my lips.
“Trust me, I won’t go easy on you or Kaia”

After leaving the chaotic hall, I walked Kaia to her door.
She kept her hands folded tightly in front of her, her breath shaky, her mind obviously racing…
When we reached her door, Kaia turned to me.
Her lashes trembled. Her fingers twisted as she dug it into her dress.

Kaia stopped and turned to me.
“Theo…..Am I really your mate p>
I froze. I wasn’t shocked. I expected this after all; I dropped a bomb on her a while ago.
It’s obvious she deserves clarification from me.
Kaia wasn’t angry. She wasn’t even suspicious.
She just looked fragile.
Like someone who had been told her entire life that she wasn’t enough.
And now she was terrified that this was some mistake or pity.
I stepped closer, slowly, giving her time to pull back. But she didn’t.

She swallowed, eyes searching my face.

Theo exhaled shakily.
“Because, Kaia, you’re meant for me.” I said, “The moon goddess doesn’t make mistakes”
I stepped closer and took her hand. “The moment you walked into my life, everything in me recognised you, and when I look at you, my heart doesn’t hurt p>
Kaia’s breath hitched.
I stepped even closer, close enough that she could feel my warm breath on her.
“Yes, Kaia. You are my mate.” I nodded, almost teary-eyed. “The only one I’ve ever wanted”
“You’re an Alpha. I’m… nothing.” Kaia worriedly said.
“Don’t say that. You’re nothing. You are everything I’ve ever wanted.” I said.
Her knees wobbled.

I gently cupped her cheek with both hands, lifting her face so she had no choice but to meet my eyes.
“You are the only one who ever saw me as more than just an alpha,” I said. “So don’t ever question your worth again”
For a moment, neither of us breathed.
Then Kaia whispered, soft, almost breaking.
“Theo….I’m scared”
I rested my forehead against hers, whispering, voice soft enough to shatter her.
“I know. But you don’t have to be scared alone anymore.
Her eyes fluttered shut, tears slipping down.
I wiped her tears with my finger, urging her not to cry anymore.
“Don’t cry, Kaia. Please”
With Kaia in my arms, I felt alive.
