Chapter 164
Callum and Edith were forced to comply with their family’s request to meet at the police station in order to cooperate. They were supposed to spend the day off together, but now they had to give up another day off. They were forced to call their assistant to look after the twins at home again.
Callum and Edith visited the police station together. They entered the interrogation room to meet with both families. They showed no fear whatsoever, as the police already had all the evidence.
Callum momentarily turned off the voice recorder in the interrogation room to ensure their conversation went smoothly. “Why did you call us out of the blue? Are you guys trying to mess with us again p>
Yvette laughed in annoyance as she screamed. “You’re the one who’s looking for trouble with us, Callum! If you hadn’t acted rashly yesterday p>
“Are you accusing my fiancé of acting rashly?” Edith crossed her arms and shook her head. “You’re the one who’s so greedy that you want to steal my fiancé p>
“How about we talk in another room? Let Callum talk to his family,” Yvette suggested, looking at Callum, who had an angry expression on his face.
“I won’t let you bully my fiancé anymore p>
Now Yvette’s family was moved to another interrogation room, allowing Edith to speak to her stepfamily as freely as she could. Edith sat in a chair with a haughty air, staring at the luxury watch on her left wrist.
“I don’t want to waste my time with you. I have other things to do on my day off, and you guys are bothering me p>
The father looked at his adopted daughter, who looked radiant with joy. “Edith, we didn’t mean to kill you five years ago. But it was for Yvette’s own good, too, because she accidentally killed you p>
Edith snickered, glaring at her father. “You still say Yvette accidentally killed me when she was planning it all along? I shouldn’t have been adopted in the first place p>
“You ungrateful child!” the mother snapped, banging the table roughly.
Edith also didn’t want to be left behind, banging the table, startling the evil family. “Yes, I’m indeed ungrateful for letting me live in your luxurious home. But you’re also ungrateful for all the help I’ve given you, especially in maintaining your family’s good reputation p>
“Then why don’t you want to listen to us? Why do you have to go around building your own boutique p>
“Because I don’t want you guys to control my life anymore. I’m so sick of it! Especially since you’ve only been using me all this time. You’ve never considered me human.” Edith held her chest, which was getting tighter as she tried to hold back her tears. “Since I met Callum, he’s the only man who truly loves me. That’s why, regardless of rumors of a one-night stand, I want to marry him p>
Yvette laughed even more crazily, kicking the table to the side. “I’m so sick of hearing you want to marry him p>
“I know the reason you forbade me from marrying Callum wasn’t because he was an illegitimate child. It was because you didn’t want me to live happily p>
“Do you want to hear the real chronology of the accident five years ago p>
“Yvette! Are you crazy?!” the mother snapped, glaring at her daughter.
“Mom, it’s too late now. We won’t be able to get out of here either. The police have already searched our house and found all the evidence of my crimes.” Yvette nodded at her parents. “You won’t be sentenced to long because you’re just my accomplices. The recent incidents involving Edith and Callum were also my doing p>
Edith laughed awkwardly, flicking her shirt collar nimbly. “Your arguing is really making me even more irritated p>
“If you had just kept quiet back then, I wouldn’t have planned the murder in the first place p>
Five years ago p>
Yvette was furious when she saw Edith and Callum shopping at the mall. The couple hadn’t brought their twins with them. They were shopping for their babies at a baby store, and the couple’s sweet smiles made her feel even hotter. Furthermore, she thought Cliff was incredibly stupid for failing to marry Edith.
So, Yvette started sending her assistant to spy on the sweet couple all the time because she was tired of doing it herself. Every time she heard a report from her assistant, she couldn’t contain her anger and threw a flower vase to the floor.
“This time I won’t just stand by! I have to kill her because she already has Callum and her twins. She doesn’t deserve to be happy p>
“So, what should I do now p>
Yvette immediately wrote a note on a small piece of paper and handed it to her assistant. “You must approach this person. Then, offer him a lot of money to keep his mouth shut p>
“Don’t tell me you p>
“Yes, I really want to kill Edith and her family p>
“Are you crazy? What if they find out p>
“This won’t get discovered if everyone cooperates with me p>
After her assistant successfully negotiated with the man, Yvette immediately chose a suitable date to carry out her murder. In fact, besides choosing a suitable date, she also heard from her assistant that the family would be going on vacation out of town. Therefore, now was the time to carry out her sinister mission.
