Chapter 63
Callum had suspected Diana’s unusual arrival would bring bad news. He had a bad feeling that his stepmother would use any means necessary to destroy his relationship with Edith, just like it had been five years ago. Now he began to suspect Diana: did she already know their relationship was back to normal? If she didn’t know, why was she so insistent on marrying Arabella?
Hearing the issue of marriage being brought up, Callum didn’t want Erdin to hear the conversation directly. So, he started acting naturally to avoid appearing awkward in front of his stepmother.
“By the way, Erdin, didn’t you finish your homework last night? Why don’t you finish it before you forget p>
Erdin quickly turned off the TV. “Okay, I’ll finish my homework now.” He immediately ran up the stairs and into his parents’ room.
Now it was just Callum and his stepmother left in the living room. The atmosphere was getting tense, as Callum was furious at his stepmother’s sudden proposal. He had been hoping for a fun day with his girlfriend. However, he had to face his worst enemy rather than have his girlfriend dragged into this mess.
“Why do you want me to marry Arabella so badly? Is it for business reasons p>
Diana folded her arms, smirking at her son. “Who said I told you to marry for work? Of course, it was so you and Erdin could live happily p>
Callum laughed awkwardly, shaking his head. “Thanks for the advice, but I’m still not getting married p>
“Why? Doesn’t Erdin need a mother p>
“I still won’t marry anyone. Erdin also told me that he doesn’t mind not having a mother p>
“Really? Then, what if Edith came back to you? Would you still accept her p>
His patience was running out. Callum clenched his fists tightly, breathing heavily. “Could you please not mention that woman’s name in front of me p>
“Don’t you miss Edith so much? She’s been missing for the past five years. And then, you insisted on marrying her p>
“I do miss her even now. But since she left me after the accident, I won’t forgive her p>
“Really? If you were given the chance to marry her, would you do it p>
“Yes, I do want to marry her because I love her so much. But if she betrays me for some ridiculous reason, I’ll still hate her p>
“So, now I suggest you marry Arabella so you can forget all about your past. Do you still want to cling to your past? Aren’t you fed up p>
Callum still wanted to put on a show, even though he couldn’t bear to badmouth his girlfriend in front of his stepmother. He was worried she would misunderstand if she overheard what he was saying.
“Because I can’t forget my past, I won’t marry Arabella. Besides, Arabella has always loved only Cliff, not me. All this time, she’s been courting me for ulterior motives p>
“Isn’t it more likely that Edith approached you with ulterior motives?” Diana crossed her legs haughtily. “It seems you were blinded by her love. Edith was supposed to marry Cliff, but instead she cheated on him with you, and you accidentally impregnated her. That’s what disgusts me so much p>
“Watch your words! Edith isn’t that kind of woman! It was Cliff who betrayed Edith p>
“Anyway, I still don’t want to approve of your relationship. If you want to be the first heir, you must marry Arabella and forget your past p>

“Watch your words! Edith is still a precious woman to me and Erdin’s biological mother. The DNA test results Cliff showed you were fake p>
“I’m waiting for you, Callum. Will you change your mind just because of a woman? If you want to earn your position on the board of directors at your father’s company, you’ll have to let go of that woman p>

“Opportunities like this don’t come around twice. I admit you’re superior to Cliff because you’re very intelligent at solving problems. But your father always refused to give you that position p>
Callum clenched his fists as he hit the back of the sofa.
Meanwhile, Diana smiled casually as she looked around the living room. “Actually, when I came to this house, I was really curious. Your house wasn’t this beautiful before. Do you have any new friends now p>
“Whether I have friends or not is none of your business p>
“Seeing your home’s increasingly beautiful interior, I don’t need to worry anymore. I originally wanted to buy furniture for you too p>
“No need. Just being quiet makes me grateful p>
“Okay, I won’t bother you anymore.” Diana got up from the sofa and slowly circled the living room. “Should I see your house now p>
Callum rolled his eyes and jumped up from the couch in a panic. “No need. It’s still early, and besides, you’ll disturb Erdin while he’s doing his homework p>

In fact, from beginning to end, Edith had been eavesdropping on the conversation between mother and son outside the room. Callum began to pale again, unable to stop his stepmother from continuing to roam around their luxurious home. After walking around the kitchen, his stepmother’s footsteps paused for a moment.
