Cara and I looked at each other, our plans already in motion in our mind.

I slammed the door to my room behind me, still seething from the day’s chaos.
Kaia’s carelessness almost caused my heart to rip out of my chest in fear.
I left her to rest in her room. Trying not to stay with her.

But the truth, damn it.
The truth gnawed at the back of my mind. I couldn’t ignore the leverage she had.

I stepped back, letting her go for now.

Elara turned back and shrugged prettily at me.
