When I woke up, Kaia was wrapped up in my arms as if she wanted to disappear into my skin.

“Good morning, sleepy head,” I kissed her head. “Wake up, it’s almost time to get ready for breakfast”

That woke her up a little, irritation flickering in her eyes.

After heating the water, I splashed water on her and she dully cracked awake as the warm water hit her legs.

We joined Zane and Justine for breakfast at the beta’s wing.
After the fight with Lucien, Kaia and I never went to our dining hall to eat together.
It’s best to keep Kaia away from those people. That way I could protect her.

When we arrived, the attendants served our plates and we sat down to eat.

“What are you doing? People are looking,” she linked me.
“This is nothing, I’m sure Justine and Zane don’t mind. After all, they made me watch them make out before” I linked her back, and she gasped.

“You should join us, it’s fun to make out at the breakfast table,” I suggested, and she side-eyed me.
She was shy but she doesn’t have to be.
We eat and make out all the time at the table. Justine and Zane influenced me back then and I liked it.

Kaia and I exchanged glances. Then, we ignored them.

“No, I don’t need any fated mate to get stronger” I clasped her hands. “You are all I need, I don’t care if I get weak without a fated mate. With you, I will love the rest of my life blissfully”
“I just don’t want to get hurt again,” tears streamed down her cheeks and which broke my heart. “I’ve already been hurt once, I can’t handle it if it happens again. I can’t handle another husband betraying me”
“I will never betray you, Kaia. I’m nothing like Draven, trust me. I will choose you over and over again” I desperately tried to make her believe me.
She looked sad, and I could understand where she was coming from.
When Elara left me, I broke down and was completely shattered.
