My dad had been singing Charles’s praises for weeks.
This might be the perfect opportunity to test the man’s character.
If his secretary was this arrogant in public, and he didn’t deal with it, it was a red flag.
But the voice on the other end of the line was ice–cold.

With that, she snatched my card and flung it toward the entrance.

No one had ever dared speak to me like that.
A white–hot rage lit up inside me.
I grabbed her wrist, dragged her to the store entrance, and hissed, “Pick. Up. My. Card p>
The staff gasped.
“Oh my God, she’s insane! She actually laid hands on Bianca Sterling p>
“She must not know who she’s messing with. Bianca’s Mr. Whitmore’s right hand. Offending her is like offending Charles himself p>
One of them whispered to me, “Miss, it’s not worth it. Don’t make enemies with Whitmore Enterprises over a bag. Let her go. Apologize while you still can p>
Bianca wrenched her arm from my grip and puffed up like a toad. “Little bitch. If you say sorry now, maybe I’ll forgive you p>
